DU Admissions : Mission admission begins

The first cut-off list released by Delhi University (DU) for admission to its various undergraduate courses on June 25 has proved to be a mixed bag for Arts, Commerce and science courses this year.

High cut-offs and fewer seats haven’t stopped students across the country from flocking to Delhi University and its prestigious colleges where admissions begin on Friday.

Over 1.3 lakh students have applied for the 49,000 seats in DU colleges. Those who qualify first should start getting themselves admitted on Friday. This year, DU authorities received 1,13,636 applications as against the 92,758 submitted last year. While a large number of applicants are from Delhi and its surrounding states, students from every corner — from the northeast to the south and the west — are vying for a place in DU. BCom (honours) is the most popular course among applicants.

The minimum eligibility criteria in some colleges for Arts and Commerce have seen a decline as compared to last year.

While some colleges like Indraprastha (I.P.)College and Gargi College have kept their cut-offs lower than last year in Arts courses, Daulat Ram Colege and Shri Ram College have raised their cut-offs for the same.

Interested candidates who meet the criteria as per the first cut-off list can complete their admission process by June 29 at the respective colleges.
