Grading system in CBSE Class XII?
Having announced grades for evaluation of CBSE students till class X, Kapil Sibal is now toying with the idea of extending the system to class XII.
Mr. Sibal said the idea has already been mooted and a committee has been set up. It will examine how grading could be introduced at Class XII.
“This is in thinking process and a committee will examine how grading could be introduced at class XII,” Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal told reporters on the sidelines of a conference of State Education Secretaries here on Thursday. He, however, stressed that no decision had been taken and before finalising anything all the stakeholders will be consulted. The expert committee report would also go to the Council of Boards of School Education in India (CoBSE).
The HRD ministry has introduced grading system at Class X under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) from this year.
The nine-point system starts from A1 (a grade for students who have done exceptionally well in the exam) to E2 (unsatisfactory performance).
He said consultations were being held with the stake-holders to arrive at a conclusion on introducing grading system in Class XII.
