CBSE Papers : CBSE to set question papers for Class-IX

After making the Class-X board examination optional from next year, the CBSE has decided to set questions for Class-IX test, presently being conducted by affiliated schools, to bring uniformity in the system and ensure better assessment of students.

To have standardisation in examination system, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has designed the question papers for examination in Class-IX.

The CBSE will be sending CDs to schools containing question papers for various subjects including Science, Social Science, English, Hindi, Mathematics and Communicative Sanskrit. The CDs will also contain sample question banks. A password will would be sent by CBSE through SMS, e-mail or telephonically to allow the school to access the CD.

With the CDs expected to reach schools by the third week of February, schools have been asked to set their datesheets accordingly. For the remaining subjects, schools have been asked to administer their own question papers based on the sample question papers available on the CBSE website.

The test paper, which is divided in four sections, will contain multiple-choice, long-answer and short-answer questions. The answerbooks will be evaluated by the school according to the marking scheme containing value points for each question.
