CBSE Papers : FA will lay more stress on creative skills
The assessment for Class IX and X is divided into summative assessment (SA) and formative assessment (FA).
While SA constitutes 60 per cent of the total marks, FA constitutes the remaining 40 per cent.
The annual term has been divided into two terms or semesters. The first semester will account for 40 per cent marks and the second will have 60 per cent weightage. On the basis of these, final grades will be awarded to the students.
According to the Board guidelines, FA will lay more stress on creative skills and performing arts, including plays, script-writing, reading projects, story writing, dance, yoga, gardening, scouting and guiding, drama, craft, debate, drawing, poster making, on the spot painting, theatre, slogan writing, science quiz, science exhibition, folk art, Olympiads, and so on.
The bifurcated syllabi in main subjects at Secondary level for Term I (April 1, 2010- September 30, 2010) and Term II (October 1, 2010- March 31, 2011) was recently released by the CBSE.
Following this, detailed guidelines for FA in these subjects will be sent to all CBSE-affiliated schools soon, along with the question paper designs and sample question papers for SA I (October 2010) and SA II (March 2011).
Coming as a relief to students, the Board also announced its moderation policy prior to declaration of results of Senior School Certificate (Class XII) and Secondary School (Class X).
