Starting A Career As A Teacher
Having a career as a teacher is probably better than with businesses. This is what the current economy offers us. Being a teacher is less stressful than office jobs where we are bound to keep in pace with what the business’ status is. With teaching, just as we can educate and inform children the proper way, then there wouldn’t be any problem.
Here is a step by step guideline on how to start a teaching career:
First of all, you have to gain a teacher’s education degree certification. Especially if it is a public school that you want to apply into, the certification is always required. If you are a graduate of any bachelor’s degree that is not related to teaching, then you might want to apply in a private school. You can find training courses in some universities and colleges, or even online. That way, you can prepare before you enter the teaching career.
Before you enter being a full time teacher, try being a substitute first. During the first few months, apply as a sub. You can decide after that if you are really suited with the teaching environment. There can always be some other options if ever you are not that into it. But first, you have to make sure that you can really teach. Your training will help you on this one.
Decide what age group you want to teach. This may vary from kindergarten, middle school, high school or even college to adult learning. Which of the age group do you think you can really teach? There may be some that are not good with dealing with younger children, and some may like that age group. You can decide this for yourself and just see which one suit you best.
You can also teach vocational courses if you like. Here, you can choose what specific field you are going to teach. It is actually less stressful than being a regular teacher.
Always try to research for forums and see more information about teaching careers. It will help you in deciding whether the career is really for you.
You need to have a stable finance status before you enter teaching career. It will require lots of training, seminars and others. These will be important for you to be able to finance your training all the way until you find the right job.
Most schools will hire someone who already has had experiences with teaching. You can try volunteering to local schools first. This will be a very helpful record to write into your resume. People who had teaching experiences are more likely to get the job.
Also, don’t forget to motivate yourself along the way. It is not that easy job, and it can be tiring when you are in it in the long run. Loving your profession is always a must.
