Common Aptitude Test for English on June 5

The English department has received over 12,000 CATE applications for just 1,000 seats in BA (honours) English in 21 colleges. Saturday was the last day for the sale and submission of forms.

According to the department, nearly 14,000 forms were sold this year. The Combined Aptitude Test for English (CATE) will be held on June 5 across 23 centres in the city.

“This year, the number of forms sold is so large because many students applied again after their CBSE results were out. So we got a lot of forms in duplicate. We would have accepted the forms even if the students had not filled in their marks as we already have the entire data of CBSE results with us,” said Sumanyu Satpathy, head, department of English.

Colleges, including Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi College of Arts & Commerce, Kirori Mal College, Hindu College, Miranda House, will admit students based on a consolidated CATE cutoff – 70% Class XII marks and 30% CATE score.

The CATE score will be announced on June 13 after which all 21 colleges will announce their individual CATE cutoffs on June 15.
