Ambedkar University came up with its first cut off list
Ambedkar University came up with its first cut off list on Monday for its various courses. The university offers plenty of options for students who want to study social science courses but couldn’t get admission in Delhi University. The university, being a state university, reserves 85% of its seats for students from the National Capital Territory.
The university was established by an act of the Delhi Government in 2007 and notified in 2008.
The cut-off percentage for all courses has seen a sharp hike this year, as the last year’s cut-off percentage being 55%.
So while the cut-off for English (honours) 74% and 79%, for Economics (honours) it is 75.75% to 80.75%. For sociology, the cut-off for Delhiites is between 73% and 78%.
The university, which is located in Dwarka and Kashmere Gate, is offering seven undergraduate courses this year. The new courses will be available in English, Sociology and Mathematics.
All courses are in the semester system. At the university, the undergraduate courses are flexible. Students do not start studying their major subjects until the third semester. During the first two semesters, all undergraduate students study the same subjects. After they make their choice, they will proceed to major in Economics, Psychology or History.
Until then, they study basic foundation courses in English and social sciences. It gives students a chance to choose the major subjects wisely.
