Special CBSE question paper for visually impaired

CBSE has decided to set special question papers of physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics for the visually-impaired candidates to encourage them to pursue science in classes XI and XII. The Board issued a circular to all its affiliated schools last Friday announcing that it will set the question papers separately without any visual inputs like diagrams or graphs. Such candidates will also get to attempt a multiple-choice question paper based on practical content instead of actually taking a practical test in physics, chemistry and biology.

According to CBSE, it had been receiving requests for providing alternate questions in science subjects in the Board exams. The new scheme will be implemented for students of class XI in the examination in March next year and for class XII students in 2013 Board exams. Visually-impaired candidates also get scribes to write their paper during Board exams. CBSE had last year also introduced changes in examination bye-laws to allow extra time to the differently-abled candidates.
