    The highest power of the variabe in a polynomial is the degree of the polynomial.

    The degree of a non-zero constant poly nomial is zero.THe degree of zero polynomial is not defined.

    A polynomial with degree 1 is called linear

    A polynomial with degree 2 is called a quadratic polynomial.

    A polynomial with a degree 3 is called a cubic polynomial.

    A real number ‘a’ is a zero of a polynomial p(x). If p(a)=0, ‘a’ is also called the root of the equation p(x)=0.
